My parents are Portuguese immigrants who chose Danbury, Connecticut to pursue the American dream and to start a family. They challenged me to challenge myself, and after graduating from Danbury High School, I followed their encouragement by earning a BBA in accounting from Western Connecticut State University. My graduation marked a historic note as I am the first in my family to graduate with a Bachelor’s degree from college. Challenged further by employers such as IBM and Arthur Andersen, I earned my CPA and continue to grow in a career of accounting.
God has been an ever present place in my life. Although all of us have at some time or other forgotten to put God first in our lives, God has never forgotten us. When I decided to look for a new position, God guided me to St Paul. He knew that I would be surrounded by loving, faithful people who would help me thru difficult times in my life. I truly feel blessed being here with people I now call friends who have supported me at work and in life.
Gardening, reading and any crafty project are just a few of the things I like to do in my spare time. But what I like most is any kind of puzzle or mind bender; from jigsaw puzzles to Sudoku to any mind challenging puzzle. I guess that is why I am an accountant. I like figuring out the puzzle of accounting where there is only one correct solution.
But while work has rewarded me in many ways, it is my family that is my greatest gift from God. I am married to a caring man with whom we have raised two wonderful children. My children have made me so proud by graduating from college and embarking on careers in their chosen fields. My parents raised me to cherish family with all my heart. One thing is certain; the heart is ever expanding and can never be filled with too much love.
